Approaching Y2K from a distinctly 2023 perspective, JOHNNY O blends trance, Eurodance and breakbeat with a pop songwriter's ear and a punk edge. The Brooklyn producer spent his early 20s singing and touring with a band before becoming disillusioned with the group dynamic, and found his calling making tracks whenever and wherever he wanted. His music bleeds through from the bedroom to the dance floor, taking a candy floss aesthetic and then rubbing it raw until it comes out just slightly rough, which you can hear in his rich, serrated textures and occasionally emo-influenced vocals.
