Mikal Cronin brings classic styles like surf and garage rock into the 21st century with his energetic, fun-filled performances. Cronin is known for his complex and moving lyrics, and in concert he brings cerebral songs like “Change” and “Weight” to life with rollicking performances that fuse art school conceptualism with punk rock grit. With a tight and talented band to support his brilliant songwriting and amazing voice, he rocks venues large and small wherever he goes. Now on tour to support his 2015 album MCIII, the long-haired rocker is bringing his garage-meets-pop style to ticket buyers near and far. For people who love a classic sound with a contemporary edge, Cronin is sure to deliver the goods.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Since he began recording in 2005, Mikal Cronin has blended the classic sounds of his native Southern California, from surf and pop to punk and garage. His retro style and hard rocking live shows quickly garnered him attention, leading to several fruitful collaborations with fellow Californian Ty Segall, including a stint in Segall’s band. Cronin began his solo career in 2011 with his self-titled debut, which Uncut named one of its 50 best albums of the year. For his 2013 follow-up MCII, Cronin played almost all of the instruments on the record and earned even more positive reviews. While touring extensively to promote the album, he continued to develop new material, reflecting on the defining moments of his life so far. The result was 2015’s MCIII, an ambitious album that expanded his sonic pallet, adding string sections and exotic instruments to his classic pop-rock sound.
