Adam Conover on Tour
He may try to ruin everything, and if you're a trivia and culture nerd, this investigative comedian will give you a run for your money. Born in 1983 in Smithtown, New York, Adam Conover grew up in a household with a marine biologist father and a botanist mother; eventually his sister would also take the university route, getting a doctorate in particle physics. All this may be, in part, to blame for Conover's sharp, academic-flavored rants. His degree in philosophy from Bard could have something to do with it as well.
Conover's forays into comedy began in college when he joined the sketch comedy group Olde English. After some years of doing stand-up, Conover scored a coveted gig working as a writer for CollegeHumor, a holy grail for aspiring comedians; his video for them, "Mitt Romney Style" (a parody of PSY's "Gangnam Style"), garnered over 60 million views. Conover jokes that he's the guy you don't want to talk to at parties, and in a way, it's true: In his TruTV show ‘Adam Ruins Everything,' the comedian mobilizes history, humor, and science to debunk commonly accepted facts — truths that may not actually be so true. Using techniques like breaking the fourth wall, time traveling, and coolly explaining complex ideas in a funny, comprehensible way, Conover has certainly found — or, one could say, created — his niche. The comedian also plays multiple characters on Netflix's animated hit show ‘BoJack Horseman.'
Conover continues his weird mash-up of comedy and science in his special MIND PARASITES, which he's taking on a 24-city tour starting in late November and concluding in January. Here he'll present new, original material that "combines stand-up comedy with a psychedelic biology class, taking you on a tour of some of the weirdest organism in nature, and revealing the cultural parasites that seek to control your mind and behavior."
