Terrible, Horrible, Don't Go!
Ok, just kidding - but seriously.......don't go! I tried to get tickets to this combo last year - sold out in minutes. I tried to get tickets in March when they played at the Filmore - sold out. Then I tried to get tickets at the Masonic - and I GOT THEM!! Highly recommended, but Don't GO! I want to go again and want to get the tickets. ;)

Controlled Danger was very good
Went to see Chappelle and Mayer - overall "Very Good". Warm-up comic was funny as hell, John came out and playing solo electric for a bit, Dave came out and gave a good routine. All this was in the first 90 minutes. Then the show went to the be a bull s*&^ing session with the two which was entertaining, but a bit repetitive with the same baseline joke. Left early.

So so
Dave Chappelle was amazing. John Mayer was amazing, but I wouldnt expect Dave Chappelle to sing a duet with John Mayer. And John Mayer shouldn’t have been doing stand up with Dave Chappelle. The first hour of Dave chapppelle was great, then John Mayer came out and tried to be funny, the last hour dragged. Love John Mayer. Love Dave Chappelle, not together.

Epic experience
The Controller Danger show with Dave Chapelle and John Mayer was unlike anything I've ever seen. I go to a lot of live shows and this was special. The opening comedian did about 10-15 minutes to warm up the crowd and he was great. Everyone was in a good mood. Then, John Mayer came out and performed for about 30 minutes, playing music and talking with the crowd. He was clearly having a good time and established a rapport with the crowd that was fun to observe. Lots of banter which I enjoy. Then Dave Chapelle came out to thunderous applause and performed a set for about an hour and just killed it, while chain smoking throughout. We were in the 2nd row, right near the end of the runway, which is exactly where he performed the entire hour. It was crazy to be that close. His set included a lot of current events and he was really at the top of his game, weaving everything together throughout and bringing it all to a perfect conclusion at the end of the hour. At that point, John Mayer came back out and they just hung out and talked for about another 45 minutes. It was unusual and a lot of fun, just watching their banter, laughter, and sometimes even inside jokes that, although we didn't know what they meant, we got caught up in the good vibes they were exchanging. Overall, it was an experience I will not soon forget. The only downside at all was that it had to end.

OUTSTANDING
Ain't no party like a Dave Chappelle party! Dave Chappelle brought it big time, and with the addition of John Mayer it was a one of a kind evening. I adore Dave's NO CELL PHONE policy. It makes every time I see him intimate and special, not to be shared a million times over. Short opening act (comedian, can't remember the name but he was great), 30 mins for JM, 30 for Dave and a full set together. Dave is the GOAT of comedy, plain and simple, I'll never miss a show if I have a choice!

Expectations blown away
This is the kind of show you can't do justice when explaining it to someone else. Always arrive early. I can honestly say I've never been more impressed by either of these dudes. If there is ever another opportunity to do this I will pay stupid amounts of money for it. I will say having your phone unavailable is a very healthy disconnect from the outside world, more shows and artists should do this. John & Dave, thank you.

The Best Show I've ever been to. And there's no way to document it.
Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour
Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT
Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.
