Debra DiGiovanni on Tour
A stand-up comedian, writer, and performer now based in Los Angeles, Debra DiGiovanni honed her high-speed delivery and highly relatable brand of humor in Toronto, where she became one of the most popular and accomplished members of Canada's comedy scene. Winning the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Female Comic guarantees her the status of a national treasure back home.
A Canadian of Italian descent who grew up in the farm town of Tillsonburg, Ontario, DiGiovanni began attracting attention not long after starting her comedy career in 2000. After winning a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Stand-Up Newcomer in 2002, she became a favorite of audiences and TV viewers thanks to regular appearances at festivals like Montreal's Just for Laughs and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and such shows as MuchMusic's Video on Trial and CTV's Comedy Now!
DiGiovanni's profile in the U.S. also rose greatly when she became a finalist on the fifth season of Last Comic Standing in 2007 and made her debut on Comedy Central's Live at Gotham in 2009. Her first special for Showtime, Single Awkward Female, debuted in 2011 and earned widespread praise for DiGiovanni and her "self-deprecating, feisty humour and snappy one-liners," in the words of The Globe and Mail.
Shows all over the U.S., the U.K., and Australia further introduced her to new audiences, as did her YouTube series Cute Boy of the Week and her podcast Killing Time with Debra & Zack. After moving to Los Angeles, she's become a mainstay of the city's comedy community, one known for her unflinching honesty and openness as she wisecracks about relationships, family, and whatever else is on her mind, all delivered with her trademark nervous energy.
In 2018, she celebrated not only her late-night debut on Conan, but the release of her second comedy album, Lady Jazz, and her second solo special, Debra DiGiovanni: Here's the Thing.
