Deitrick Haddon is one of the most creative, inspiring, and exciting names in contemporary gospel, never hesitating in his quest to bring the good word beyond the walls of the church and into the world at large. That drive has helped him create a distinctive sound he calls "gospel soul," mixing spiritual music with the secular sounds of pop, rock, soul and funk. It’s also what has inspired him to bring his message to the world, both through his popular reality show Preachers Of LA and in his live shows. A Deitrick Haddon concert really is the best showcase of his conviction, his charisma, and his overwhelming excitement about his message. The message is catching on; his new album, "R.E.D.," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Charts and the album’s lead single, “Have Your Way,” hit No. 2 on iTunes.
It's only the latest success for this son of a Detroit bishop. Haddon grew up around the church, preaching his first sermon at the age of 11. As a member of the group Voices Of Unity, he established his distinctive gospel soul sound and released his first album, 1995's "Come Into This House." However, it was once Haddon started recording on his own that things really started taking off. His 2002 solo debut, "Lost & Found," hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Charts, was nominated for a Grammy, and produced the hit “Sinner’s Prayer.” In 2007, he won two Gospel Music Workshop of America Excellence Awards for the album "Live The Life." In 2013, his latest single, “Have It Your Way” off the album "R.E.D.," was nominated for a Grammy for Best Gospel Song. Tickets are currently on sale for Haddon's Feburary 2014 cross-country tour.
