Don Jamieson on Tour
As far as comedy and music go, not many singular figures today are more foundational than Don Jamieson. Born in 1966, Jamieson came up in the stand-up comedy scene, scoring a much-coveted role at MTV, where he would work with young comedians like Jon Stewart and Kevin James. Jamieson is best-known for his work on VH1 Classic's ‘That Metal Show,' which ran from 2008 to 2015. Co-hosting with comedy partner Jim Florentine, with whom he'd work on numerous projects, Jamieson had a number of recurring segments on the show and hosted countless metal gods, such as Ronnie James Dio, Yngwie Malmsteen, Lemmy Kilmister, and Kirk Hammett. He would eventually perform at Metallica's Orion Music + More festival, where he was introduced by Lars Ulrich, who he'd previously interviewed on his own show.
As a comedian, Jamieson released ‘Live and Hilarious' on Metal Blade Records in 2011, and ‘Hell Bent for Laughter' followed in 2014; between the two, he reached the Top 20 on iTunes and the Top 10 on the Billboard Comedy charts. His aggressively funny third special dropped in 2017. Jamieson also received an Emmy for his work on HBO's ‘Inside the NFL,' where he wrote and acted in sports sketches alongside Florentine. He was involved with Comedy Central's hidden-camera DVD and web series ‘Meet the Creeps,' as well as prank-call CDs ‘Terrorizing the Telemarketers.' Nowadays Jamieson plays co-host on quiz show ‘Beer Money!' on SportsNet New York, as well as co-hosting rock web series ‘Blonde and Crossbones.' He writes for celebrity roaster Lisa Lampanelli, and at one time he was Andrew Dice Clay's regular opening act. Additionally, Jamieson is a musician himself: he plays in the acoustic death-metal band Gunfire-N-Sodomy.
