Earth on Tour
For over 30 years, Earth has wowed and hypnotized rock audiences everywhere with their individual style of drone metal. The drawn-out, repetitive, and monolithic beats allude to the core of the most simplistic form of rock music. Created in 1989 by Dylan Carlson, Slim Moon and Greg Babior, the band has seen a plethora of musicians come and go. Currently performing with Carlson on guitar and Adrienne Davies on drums, Earth is making 22 stops across the United States in the fall of 2022. Releasing their debut album, Earth 2: Special Low Frequency Version in 1993, on Sub Pop Records, Earth essentially created the genre of ambient/drone metal. The band was formed in Olympia, Washington, during the creation of grunge music. In 1995, Earth released their next album on Black First Records, Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars. This album included guest vocals from the legendary Kurt Cobain on their song "Divine And Bright." Since their formation, Earth has released 19 albums, including 070796 Live (2003), Live HEX; in a Large City on the North American Continent (2006), The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull (2008), Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light II (2012), Primitive And Deadly (2014), Live At Third Man Records (2017), as well as 2019's Full Upon Her Burning Lips. In 2022, Earth released their single "The Long and Winding Road to Ruin," a synth-heavy and melodic song that is sure to trance the audience.
After their 1996 album Pentastar: In the Style of Demons, Earth took a break from music due to Carlson suffering from persona issuesl. Carlson resurfaced in 2003 after working on his health, still with Davies on drums. In 2005, they released their comeback, psychedelic rock album Hex: Or Printing in the Infernal Method. Since re-forming, Carlson and Davies have been the only constant in the band. Over the years, other band members have included Steve Moore, Joe Preston, Michael McDaniel, and Sean McElligot. Popular songs from Earth include "Omens And Portents 1: The Driver" and "The Bees Made Honey In the Lion's Skull," both from the album The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull (2008). Combined, these songs have more than 3.6 million streams on Spotify.
