Before embarking on her own successful solo career, the immense talents of Scottish singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé were tapped by such artists as Professor Green, Devlin and Solange Knowles for whom she made guest vocal appearances in the recording studio and on stage. What’s more, the talented Ms. Sandé also penned tunes for the likes of Rihanna, Leona Lewis and Cheryl Cole. The whole world took notice, however, when Emeli performed showstopping solo performances at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics. Now, it’s her time in the spotlight, as her eclectic jazz-soul pop hits like “Daddy,” “Heaven,” and “Next to Me” made huge waves in Europe and the States, and her concerts showcasing her powerful voice and skills on the keys have fans clamoring for tickets to catch her on tour. Her debut album Our Version of Events became the U.K.’s top-selling album in 2012, and in that same year, she took home Brit Awards for Album of the Year and Female Solo Artist. Emeli Sandé names musical greats such as Joni Mitchell and Nina Simone as major influences, while her own music has been compared to Alicia Keys, Adele, Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Bruno Mars.
