Saw Daltry and Clapton last night at the DTE Energy Theater (to the rest of the planet - it's still Pine Knob). The show was amazing. Daltry opened the show commenting that he was there to warm us up for Eric Clapton. He did not disappoint. My wife and I saw The Who last year and his voice sounded tired. Last night's performance was a revitalized Daltry. While he did not belt out the scream from "We Don't Get Fooled Again", the voice was the solid voice we've come to know and love. The only disappointment was that his set was less than one hour for a two-act show. Eric Clapton came out after the set change and likewise did not disappopint the audience. His dexterity has not slowed with age and is still quite capable of playing the blues with his powder-blue Fender. I was hoping the two legends would appear together on stage (the night before, Peter Frampton appeared on stage with Steve Miller) but that never happened. I was very satisfied with the sound board's mixing and will see either act if and when they return.

Over the course of his more than 50-year career, guitar legend Eric Clapton has covered an immense amount of ground. Along with dozens of album releases and concerts worldwide, he’s received three Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions — one for his solo career and two more as a member of both Cream and the Yardbirds. He’s also earned an unofficial spot high on the list of best rock guitarists of all time.

Though his eponymous solo debut surfaced in 1970, Clapton’s solo career took off in the mid-‘70s with “461 Ocean Boulevard” and its now-ubiquitous single, “I Shot the Sheriff.” The English performer has since released 19 more solo sets, most recently “Old Sock.” That 13-track collection features mostly covers, as well as guest appearances by several established musicians, including J.J. Cale, Paul McCartney, Chaka Khan and Steve Winwood.

Clapton’s numerous tours - both alone and with his many projects — have canvased the globe, with tickets selling out regularly at iconic venues like London’s Royal Albert Hall and New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
