Antiquated technology
The sound system was horrible. There was a garbled echo so you couldn't hear what anyone was saying. And the music was so much louder than the singers mic, it was totally unbalanced. Then the video screens had delays of several seconds so you couldn't even enjoy watching it. Their system needs an overhaul.

Essence 2018
The convention center was not easy to navigate and the maps weren’t clear on how to get to particular areas. The sound in the Superdome was terrible. I couldn’t understand anything the artists were saying. So if I didn’t know the words to a song, I just wouldn’t know what the song was or what the words were. The sound in the super lounges were awesome

Concerts all three nights were EXCELLENT!!!
The curated performances were the best. It was a real treat to see so many great artists on the same stage without having to sit through set changes, which can take up precious time leaving the night to be thoroughly enjoyed. Please do more of those in the future.

The Wakanda of the South
It had been almost ten years since I attended Essence but this year did not disappoint. It's even bigger and better than ever before. A very empowering event for black men and women, creatives, and entrepreneurs. A MUST GO!!! The value of the concert tickets can't be beat!

Each year it gets better amazing
Essence music Festival is an cultural iconic event. EMF 24th year was amazing. Attendance was high because of last year’s hit movie girls trip. Even with the high attendance EMF did not disappoint it’s attendees . Great food, great music, great events. They gave a brand new author a chance to shine by the name of Lady Nicole “ Chosen A Lady’s Journey from Called, to Crushed, to Crowned “

Black Culture comes to life in experiences beyond the Evening Concert Series, including SOKO MRKT™ celebrating emerging Black businesses; empowering conversations on multiple stages with the Global Black Economic Forum; a special edition of Beautycon™, Essence Authors; AFROPUNK and its kaleidoscope of Black futurism; Suede (The Men's Experience); a culinary exploration of the diaspora at Essence Food & Wine Festival; and community activism in the Community Impact Hub.
