Following the release of her long awaited sophomore album Soft Power in November 2024 and ahead of a US tour supporting the Pixies and Spoon this fall, New Zealand artist Fazerdaze returns with what feels like a natural next chapter in her gritty, hook-filled pop universe: a brand new single called “Motorway,” out May 21, 2025 via section1 On “Motorway,” Fazerdaze captures the disorienting feeling of being stuck in transit - between a city, a relationship, and the illusion of freedom itself. Written in the wake of her acclaimed album Soft Power, the track pairs her signature synth-laced pop with a darker emotional undercurrent, as she meditates on the numbing comfort of routine and the quiet ache of not belonging. Amelia shares that the track was written from “a feeling of being trapped between a city and a relationship, searching for home in both but finding it in neither. It explores an enmeshment with familiarity; and the motorway becoming a symbol of that for me;repetitive, a loop to break out of, a false sense of freedom.”
