FIREWORKS IN CONCERT:
Over the past decade, Detroit-based pop-punk outfit Fireworks has built a fiercely devoted fanbase thanks to their emotional lyrics, hard-hitting sound, and high-octane performances on tour. At the group's live shows frontman David Mackinder cuts a commanding figure, belting out heart-on-sleeve tracks like "Detroit" and "The Wild Bunch" with passion and intensity while fans sing along from the pit. The rest of the band keeps pace with blistering drums and distorted guitars, conjuring up a massive wall of sound that always gets ticket buyers thrashing rocking out. With their 2014 album Oh, Common Life still fresh in fans' minds, Fireworks are primed and ready to deliver another rollicking round of performances on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Fireworks formed in Metro Detroit in 2005 and quickly signed to local label Run For Cover Records, which issued the band's debut EP We Are Everywhere the following year. After several years of extensive touring the group moved on to venerable indie label Triple Crown Records and released their 2009 debut album All I Have to Offer is My Own Confusion, which was produced by New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert. The record was well-received, leading to a US tour with Saves the Day and an Australian tour with New Found Glory. Fireworks followed up in 2011 with Gospel, an emotional tour de force that explored increasingly weighty themes like spirituality and loss. Following stints on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour and a 2013 tour with The Wonder Years, Fireworks released their third album Oh, Common Life to their best reviews yet. The talented six-piece continues to offer up their fresh take on traditional pop-punk fare on tour.
