G Herbo on Tour
Alongside peers and collaborators like Chance the Rapper and Juice WRLD, G Herbo has been a driving force in Chicago's hip-hop scene ever since he became one of the city's hottest new talents in 2012. With his fiery flow and thoughtful lyrics, he captures the pains and struggles of everyday life on the city's streets with rare power. Released in 2020 by Machine and Epic, G Herbo's third solo studio album PTSD is the boldest statement yet by an artist who made an indelible first impression on listeners when he was only 12 years old. A streetbanger that featured the young MC then known as Lil Herb with his fellow drill sensation Lil Bibby, "Kill S***" became an underground hit before attracting over 40 million YouTube views and an endorsement from Drake. G Herbo has continued to make an impact with his ferocious rhymes and flow whether he's appearing on his own solo mixtapes, studio albums and singles or guesting on tracks by Common, Nicki Minaj and Earl Sweatshirt. The respect he's earned from his fellow MCs is clear from the guest list on PTSD, which includes 21 Savage, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Chance the Rapper and Polo G. The title track also features Juice WRLD, one of many friends G Herbo has memorialized in his hard-hitting tracks.
G Herbo in Concert
"The future" is what Drake called G Herbo back when he and his longtime friend Lil Bibby first exploded onto Chicago's hip-hop scene with the fierce streetbanger "Kill S***" in 2012. But it was with his first solo mixtape, Welcome to Fazoland, in 2014 that G Herbo established himself as the rare young MC whose forceful flow was matched by his lyrical dexterity and his frank take on the realities of life and loss on the city's streets. G Herbo has continued to hone his skills while exploring the pain and trauma of his own experiences on a series of acclaimed mixtapes and his three studio albums: Humble Beast (2017), Still Swervin (2019) and PTSD (2020). A collaboration with producer Southside, Swervo (2018) marked his debut for Machine Entertainment Group and Epic and became his first album in Billboard's Top 20. Released in 2020, PTSD became G Herbo's first Top 10 album, shifting 59,000 units in its first week. The title track also became his first to hit the Hot 100 and featured appearances by Chance the Rapper, Lil Uzi Vert and G Herbo's friend Juice WRLD in one of his final guest spots.
