GIRL BAND IN CONCERT:
Dublin quartet Girl Band delivers an apocalyptic vision of post-punk at their frenetic live performances. As drums rattle off menacing death march rhythms and guitars blast out flame thrower fuzz tones, singer Dara Kiely forms a direct connection with audiences as he croons his tales of pandemonium and modern alienation. Ticket buyers with a taste for the more extreme fringes of the punk rock scene will not be disappointed by antisocial anthems like “De Bom Bom”, “In Plastic”, and “The Last Riddler”. With a bracing cocktail of punk, noise rock, and avant-garde, this intrepid Irish quartet promises to bring the house down at venues across North America on tour and leave a lasting impression on audiences with their brutal and passionate sound.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Ironically-named noise rockers Girl Band were formed in Dublin in 2011 by vocalist Dara Kiely, guitarist Alan Duggan, bassist Daniel Fox, and drummer Adam Faulkner. The group made their recorded debut a year later with the single “In My Head”, which instantly created ripples in the blogosphere with its uniquely confrontational sound. After a few other limited-run singles, the band caught the attention of Rough Trade and signed with the imprint in 2014. The label collected their independently released singles and packaged them under the cheekily titled 2015 EP The Early Years —a mere four years into their career. The group entered the studio to put together a full-length debut later that year, producing the provocative album Holding Hands with Jamie. The band continues to thrill fans with their incendiary output and stirring live performances.
