Gruff Rhys Concert Schedule and Tour
Indie rock icon and former Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys continues to thrill fans of power pop with his smart songwriting and colorful performances. Rhys is a consummate showman and concertgoers can always expect the unexpected at his endlessly creative live concert shows, where he's known to bust out a solo on a toy keyboard or tell a story about his heritage with the help of a life-size doll. From sing-alongs during "Rubble Rubble" to clap-alongs on the Welsh-language "Gyrru Gyrru Gyrru", Rhys's live shows perfectly capture the celebratory spirit of his music, and fans won't want to miss him on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Welsh-born Gruff Rhys began playing in bands in his teens, eventually becoming a local hero in the early '90s as frontman of the popular Welsh band Ffa Coffi Pawb. In 1993 he formed the Super Furry Animals, a project that enjoyed tremendous success over the course of nine critically acclaimed albums that also landed 22 consecutive singles on the UK Singles Chart. After the band went on hiatus in 2010 Rhys renewed his solo career, which began in 2005 with the Welsh-language album Yr Atal Genhedlaeth. His third album Hotel Shampoo won the Welsh Music Prize in 2011, and in 2014 he released a combination album/film/book/mobile app titled American interior that was as finely-crafted as it was ambitious. An infinitely gifted performer with an infectious sense of humor, Rhys continues to delight ticket buyers on perennial concert tours.
