Homerun Derby

The derby was fun as always. Not really impressed with the fireworks this year, thought it was lacking a little. Also did not like the fact that people were not able to get a refund do to the postponement of the derby. Otherwise, we'll be there again next year!

first homerun derby experience

This was the first time attending the college homerun derby - first homerun derby experience! Event to was well organized. Contestants seemed to be well taken care of and also seemed to enjoy the experience. Easy to purchase and find tickets on ticketmaster site. Will look forward to future opportunities and hope to attend again! Downside... Weather event happened. All day we knew that a storm was coming. Event was supposed to happen at 7 PM and a make-up date/time is previously determined... gates opened at normal time, and a decision wasn't made until AFTER 7 PM when the rain was coming down. (and local weather reports predicted rain would be coming down at that time all day). I know weather patterns can change. I know that complication when events are being aired on live TV to coordinate. But unfair to players and spectators when all day we know a storm is coming, gates open and even hour before the communication is "we'll make the call later", then the event gets postponed until back-up date anyway. We took a chance that the event would happen on the make up day and didn't even attempt to go to the event as we didn't want to get stuck in thunderstorm or hail.

Great event for the whole family! We will be there next year for sure.
