Inter Miami CF at DRV PNK Stadium
The highly anticipated arrival of Major League Soccer's expansion team in Miami finally became a reality in 2020. Inter Miami CF (short for Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami) plays its home games at DRV PNK Stadium, an 18,000 capacity soccer-specific stadium located in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Inter Miami's very existence is founded on embracing the diversity of Miami's identity and the passion and greatness that co-owner David Beckham brought to the soccer field with English national team Manchester United and the MLS's own LA Galaxy. Inter Miami is led by 2019 No. 1 overall MLS Superdraft pick Robbie Robinson and Head Coach Phil Neville on the pitch, and The Siege, Southern Legion and Vice City 1896 supporter groups in the stands. And while Inter Miami's eventual home stadium, the 25,000 capacity Miami Freedom Park, moves through the approval process, DRV PNK Stadium will still remain the team's training complex and the home of its USL affiliate and Academy teams.
Inter Miami CF History
When English footballer David Beckham made MLS history as the first big-name international star to sign on to the league (with the LA Galaxy in 2007), he was also given the option of purchasing an expansion team once his playing days were over. Inter Miami CF is not just the product of Beckham exercising that option, but also of a concerted effort by the Miami Beckham United Group to bring an MLS team to South Florida in style. Inter Miami splashes into the 2023 season led by the 2019 top pick -- Clemson striker Robbie Robinson. In 2019, Robinson won the MAC Hermann Trophy as the nation's top college soccer player.
The team's first-ever head coach, Diego Alonso, was a Uruguayan national team standout and a two-time Concacaf Champions League coach with Pachuca and Monterrey, both of Mexico's top Liga MX.
