Jackie Venson on Tour
It's no coincidence that Jackie Venson was born in the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin, Texas. She comes from some of Austin's music royalty, her father being the acclaimed Austin musician Andrew Venson.
After cutting her teeth on the Austin music scene, Venson released her first studio album, The Light in Me, in 2014. She's released three more since then, Joy in 2019, Vintage Machine in 2020, and Love Transcends in 2021. She has played stages worldwide as a headliner and with major acts such as Gary Clark Jr., Melissa Etheridge, Aloe Blacc, and Citizen Cope.
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and shows being canceled, Venson committed to connecting with fans via live streaming and earned the No. 10 spot on Pollstar's Top Music Live Streamers of 2020 alongside Norah Jones and Questlove.
She made her national television debut as a headliner on the 46th season of "Austin City Limits" on November 14, 2020.
Venson is a passionate artist, combining introspective lyrics with entrancing guitar solos. The Austin-American Statesman called her "A Gary Clark Jr.-level talent." See the talent for yourself -- get tickets to see Jackie Venson the next time she plays in a city near you.
Jackie Venson Live in Concert
Jackie Venson was born in Austin, Texas, on February 5, 1990. She's the youngest of nine siblings. Her father, Andrew Venson, is a famed Austin musician.
She majored in composition and music production at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2011.
Venson says her most significant musical influence has been Disney, especially the masterful Lion King arrangements by Hans Zimmer and Elton John.
In an interview with Terry Lickona on "Austin City Limits," she explains how she learned to sing: "I took voice lessons when I was 16, but where I really learned to sing was hosting karaoke for three years. If no one's singing the host has to sing! It was training -- I was singing every night."
But the standout R&B, blues, rock and soul singer isn't just another pretty voice. She's also a talented guitar virtuoso, as you'll see in her live performances.
