Rough sound amazing show
Janelle Monae is an amazing performer and gave us all an incredible show. The energy in the room was like no other show I've seen. However the sound mixing at the state was terrible. The bass was turned up way too high and it made it very difficult to hear anything else, including Janelle singing and speaking.

From Texas to Minneapolis
Great show with Crazy stage presence. She give you more than your moneys worth. I'm glad we were able to see Her while visiting Minneapolis.

Janelle is exceptional, venue speakers need help
Not sure if the bass was too much for the venue to handle but there was a lot of bad rumbling sounds overpowering Janelle's amazing vocals and the excellent work of her musicians. If you didn't know the song, it was tough to tell what was being played with the speakers bottoming out on the low notes. Before the concert when I walked in, I could feel the pre-music bass vibrating the whole building (and my inner ears) before I even figured out what song was playing. I have good hearing so that's not the issue. If the State Theater can figure out proper balance, I'll definitely come back for another concert.

Janelle Monae put on a fantastic show! I would highly recommend! Gave 4 stars only because the State Theatre is a little congested.

So glad I got tix!
Janelle has produced consistency great music. She's innovative, entertaining, beautiful and has a lot to say in her lyrics. I wasn't sure if I was going to love this show because most of the set-list was derived from her new album Dirty Computer which I wasn't too familiar with. She delivered. Dazzled. And she played many of her past hits. Her dancing was awesome as were her dancers. And her band was enthusiastic and top-notch. Her passion for women's rights and LGBTQ... rights were delivered in her music and in her narrative. A very enjoyable evening!

Janelle Monae is the greatest performer I've ever seen!!! She was absolutely incredible!!! Next time she is at the Greek, I will 100% be there!!!

With the 2013 release of her genre-spanning second album The Electric Lady, Janelle Monae took her already-experimental funk sound to the next level, incorporating elements of jazz, gospel, and even pop-punk to dazzling effect. Bolstered by hit singles "Q.U.E.E.N. (feat. Erykah Badu)" and "Prime Time (feat. Miguel)," the album landed at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and served as fertile material for her ever-evolving live concerts. Revered by ticket buyers for her creativity and showmanship, Monae had fans dancing from start to finish at her energetic 2013 shows. Discovered by Diddy and signed to Bad Boy Records in 2006, Monae released several EPs before making her full-length debut in 2010 with concept album The ArchAndroid. Aesthetically, Monae is known for her modelesque looks and androgynous style, and is rarely seen without her signature pompadour and tuxedo. Though she only stands at 5', her concerts are known to have giant ambitions, earning her a reputation as one of the most entertaining acts in contemporary pop music.
