Spanish songwriter, producer and DJ Juan Magan is the godfather of electrolatino, a genre that’s taking electronic dance music in bold new directions with an infectious mix of Latin house, reggaeton and hip-hop music. In 2012, Magan followed up his latest number one hit in Spain, “Bailando por Ahí,” with the most successful tour of the country ever. He brought his unique high-energy dance music and infectious rhythms to over a hundred concerts, totalling over a million tickets sold. After that, he reworked the song into “Bailando Por El Mundo,” adding appearances from Pitbull and Dominican rapper El Cata, and took his show around the world, from Dubai to Mexico City to the shores of America, where it became his first US hit. It got him nominations for six Billboard Latin Music Awards and three Latin Grammys. He followed that up in 2013 with a Goya nomination for “Te Voy A Esperar” and the popular single, "Mal De Amores."
While Magan is something new in the States, he’s been a major player in Spanish music for several years. Back in 2008, his album "Suave," recorded as part of the duo Magan & Rodriguez, got 12 tracks into the Beatport Top 100 and earned Magan his first double-platinum single, “Bora Bora.” Many more hits followed, including “Suck My...,” “Verano Azul” (another double-platinum) and “Mariah.” He has collaborated with top Latino artists, like Shakira, Juanes, Nelly Furtado, Enrique Iglesias and many more. With his music now topping charts in the US as well, Magan is bringing influences from around the globe into his music and also bringing his music around the globe.
