KEVIN DEVINE & THE GODDAMN BAND IN CONCERT:
Indie rock agitator Kevin Devine sharpened his quirky edge and incisive lyrics in the '00s with groups like Bad Books and Miracle of 86. Today he continues to stir the pot with his project Kevin Devine & The Goddamn Band, which marries the fearless frontman's youthful energy and coming-of-age narratives to distorted power chords and driving rhythms. The heavy riffs, poppy harmonies, and booming drums on highlights like "Bubblegum," "Little Bulldozer," and "Private First Class" sweep audiences up with their unyielding charge. Kevin Devine & the Goddamn Band represents yet another great chapter in the band leader's stellar career, and ticket buyers will be enthralled by the group's electrifying energy as they power through their inimitable, full-throttle anthems.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Though he studied Journalism at Fordham University, Kevin Devine promptly pursued a career in music following his 2001 graduation. He cut his teeth playing with cult indie favorites like Miracle of 86 and Disillusion, and in 2002 he released his solo debut album Circle Gets the Square. He delivered a more introspective sound on 2003's Make the Clocks Move, which caught the attention of emo rockers Brand New, who invited him to join them on their 2004 tour. He formed The Goddamn Band in 2007 to back him on the road with Manchester Orchestra. While touring he became fast friends with Manchester Orchestra's principal songwriter Andy Hull and later formed the side project Bad Books with him in 2010. After Devine's acoustic-focused 2011 outing Between the Concrete & Clouds, he launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund his next two albums, Bulldozer and Bubblegum – which were both released in 2013 to widespread fan and critical acclaim. Kevin Devine & the Goddamn Band continue to endear more and more fans with their rousing live performances and standout records.
