Lil Tecca in Concert
During his high-energy live shows, Lil Tecca's slick songs turn into incredible, full-on shout-alongs. The rapper's career exploded quickly and loudly with the success of his viral internet hit "Ransom," which he uploaded shortly after playing his first live show ever in May 2019 at New York hip-hop institution S.O.B.'s. In subsequent months, Tecca brought his show to the Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash in Chicago and Made in America in Philadelphia. By late 2019, he was booked for headlining shows across America and Europe, concluding with an appearance at Rolling Loud.
Lil Tecca on Tour
The rise of New York rapper Lil Tecca has been nothing short of meteoric. He independently released his breakout hit "Ransom" in May of 2019 at just 16 years old, which hit the Billboard Top 10 by October. The MC born Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe's inauspicious beginnings as a wordsmith began while dissing his friends over Xbox Live. Deciding to take his friendly beefs offline, he turned his energy into a song using his sister's laptop. Inspired by the melodic raps of Speaker Knockerz, the drill of Chief Keef and the Jamaican music he heard growing up, Sharpe was soon creating music and releasing it to Instagram and SoundCloud under the name "Lil Tecca" (a tweak on his Instagram handle). His incredible success began when visionary hip-hop director Cole Bennett uploaded the quirky, cartoonish video for "Ransom," and within weeks, Tecca was storming the charts. Beyond the joyous energy of "Ransom," part of Tecca's immediate appeal is the everydude swagger of a teenager just being himself: Braces, glasses, stylish but not materialistic, funny on social media. Led by "Ransom," Tecca's debut mixtape, We Love You Tecca, appeared in August, bolstered by an appearance from Juice WRLD and production from hitmakers like Pi'erre Bourne and Young Kio.
