New York Jets History
Beginning play at the Polo Ground in 1960 as The Titans of New York, the franchise changed their name to the Jets in 1963 before adopting Shea Stadium as their home in 1964. In 1968, the Jets became the first AFL representative to defeat the NFL in the Super Bowl as the team beat the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III, an improbable victory that was "guaranteed" by their quarterback, "Broadway" Joe Namath.
From "Broadway Joe" to "The Sack Exchange" to Curtis Martin, the Jets have always been defined by passionate fans, talented players and a lot of personality.
