Growing up the daughter of a country star, Pam Tillis was immersed in the Nashville music scene from the get-go. She made her singing debut at the Grand Ole Opry at age 8, and by her teens she was writing songs and playing the piano and guitar. She cut her teeth in the early '70s penning tunes for artists like Gloria Gaynor and Chaka Khan, and in 1981 she signed to Warner Bros. Records. Her 1983 debut album didn't make much of an impact, but she found chart success mid-decade with a string of non-album singles including "Those Memories of You" and "There Goes My Love."
