Rain City Drive on Tour
Northern California post-hardcore rockers Rain City Drive took their current name in 2021 after performing under the name Slaves since they originally formed in 2014.
Following the release of three studio albums, founding vocalist Jonny Craig left the band in 2019 and was replaced by current singer/songwriter Matt McAndrew, known for his appearance on Season 7 of NBC's reality TV singing competition "The Voice." McAndrew sang on the band's 2020 critically acclaimed fourth studio album, To Better Days (their final album under the name Slaves), which primarily addressed the theme of relationships -- romantic relationships, friendships and our relationships with ourselves.
This album preceded their critically acclaimed self-titled album, Rain City Drive, in 2022.
Don't miss the chance to see Rain City Drive's unapologetically raucous and invigorating live shows when they come to a city near you.
Rain City Drive Live in Concert
Originally formed in Sacramento, California, in 2014 under the name Slaves, pop-punk rockers Rain City Drive decided to change their name in 2021, announcing on social media that as supporters of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, they "could not continue to tie [their] music and [their] positive message to a word associated with such negative weight and hurt."
Initially adopting the name Rain City (inspired by the nickname of Manchester, the city where they met) the band decided to add Drive to the end of their name after signing to Thriller Records in 2021 with new vocalist Matt McAndrew joining guitarists Colin Vieira, Weston Richmond and Felipe Sanchez, and drummer Zachary Baker.
The band released their first studio album under the new moniker in 2022, the self-titled Rain City Drive, which manages to be both poppy and heavy as well as incredibly ambitious. Critics called it "an album of anthems" and it features several epic tunes that prove that the band has the musical chops to back up their hard-core swagger.
