Roddy Ricch on Tour
Known for his reflective, emotional rapping, Roddy Ricch puts on a live show that turns songs like "Die Young," "Down Below" and "Every Season" into intense sing-alongs. He sees music as therapy, telling vivid tales of his Compton hometown while bounding across the stage. He's traveled on Post Malone's 2019 European tour and captured bookings such as Philadelphia's Made in America Festival and London's Reading Festival. With the runaway success of "Die Young," he's been a cameo presence on the live circuit, hitting the stage at Powerhouse 2018 in Philadelphia as a guest of headliner Meek Mill and storming Coachella 2019 during a set by Juice WRLD. He also turned up at Ultra Music Festival during a set by Marshmello to perform their collaboration "Project Dreams."
Roddy Ricch in Concert
When Roddy Ricch — born Rodrick Wayne Moore, Jr. — started making waves, he was based in the Los Angeles hip-hop mainstay Compton. He has a cross-country, region-free sound, though, thanks to a diverse upbringing: a grandmother from Louisiana, family in Mississippi and New York, trips to Chicago and some inspiring time spent in Atlanta. Growing up in Compton, he went to the same church as Kendrick Lamar, but ended up gravitating to Southern rap heroes like South Carolina's Speaker Knockerz and Atlanta kingpins Gucci Mane, Future and Young Thug. His early interest in rap was more of a hobby, fooling around at home with equipment at age 16, but people took notice of his natural ability. He released his debut mixtape, Feed Tha Streets, in 2017, which garnered praise from the likes of Meek Mill, 03 Greedo, DJ Mustard, RJ and the late Nipsey Hussle. His breakthrough came in the summer of 2018 with his emotional single "Die Young," a tribute to fallen rappers. Ricch soon began appearing on songs alongside Meek Mill and Future ("Splash Warning"), Nipsey Hussle ("Racks in the Middle"), producer Marshmello ("Project Dreams") and the remix of Post Malone's "Wow."
