Sons Of The East on Tour
Sons Of The East are an Australian indie-folk trio comprising Nic Johnston, Dan Wallage, and Jack Rollins. Together since 2011, Sons Of The East have shared three EPs -- 2013's self-titled, 2015's Already Gone, and 2019's Burn Right Through -- and performed at major music festivals, including Festival Of The Sun in New South Wales, Colours of Ostrava festival in the Czech Republic, SXSW, and Boardmasters Festival in Cornwall.
When the band's debut EP dropped in August 2013, they shared the lead single "Come Away." Soon they were releasing new songs year over year, including 2015's "Into The Sun," 2016's "Lost Cause," 2017's "My Repair," and 2018's "Nothing Comes Easy."
In 2019, Sons Of The East released four singles, including "It Must Be Luck," "You Ain't Going Nowhere," "Silver Lining," and "Come Away." The following year, they released three singles, including "Inappropriate Behaviour," "You Might Think," and "On My Way." Two more tracks followed in 2021 ("Fool Me" and "Millionaire"), and the band shared "Undone" in 2022.
Described by the AU Review as "the most famous local band that you've never heard of," Sons Of The East have played sold-out shows across Australia and Europe, and they've amassed more than a million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Likewise, they cite influences from classic-rock acts such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac. As of August 2022, Johnston, Wallage, and Rollins are touring and prepping their long-awaited debut album.
"Write as many songs as you possibly can because for every one great song, there's probably 15 horrible ideas that we've had," Johnston told the AU Review in 2022, offering a bit of advice to any up-and-coming musicians. "It's just a game of mathematics, really. You've got to write a whole heap of absolute crap to come up with the good ones, so don't be discouraged."
