Philadelphia-based pop-punk quintet Sweet Pill adeptly combines elements of emo, indie rock and hardcore, creating a sound that's both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.
Taking cues from Paramore, Circa Survive and Speedy Ortiz, Sweet Pill is fronted by dynamic frontwoman Zayna Youssef--known for her raw and confident vocal style--and is rounded out by guitarists Jayce Williams and Sean McCall, bassist Ryan Cullen, and drummer Chris Kearney.
Sweet Pill formed in 2019 as part of the Rowan University music scene in Glassboro, New Jersey. That year they self-released an EP, Lost in It, and signed to Philadelphia independent label Know Hope Records soon after. The band credits their early success to their relationship with the 4333 events collective and the enthusiastic DIY community at Rowan University.
Also known for their raucous live shows, the band released their critically-acclaimed debut full-length album, Where the Heart Is, in 2022. Lead single "Blood" explores the demise of a close friendship, and the lively, complex track "Sucker Punch" is all about being a sucker for love.
Sweet Pill also headed out on tour in 2023, performing concerts across the United States.
