Varials on Tour
American hardcore punks Varials formed in late 2013 and have been tearing it up ever since. The brooding Philadelphia five-piece combine hardcore punk, industrial and thrash metal. Weathering some lineup changes over the years, the band's 2022 lineup features Mitchell Rogers (guitar and lead vocals), James Hohenwarter (lead guitar), Mike Foley (bass), Sean Rauchut (drums), and Shane Lyons (rhythm guitar).
After releasing a series of EPs between 2014 and 2016, Varials released their debut full-length album, Pain Again, in 2017 on Fearless Records, with ominous song titles including the title track "Pain Again" and "E.D.A" -- short for "everyone dies alone." Their sophomore album, In Darkness, was the final release featuring vocalist Travis Tabron before his departure from the band. Drawing on notable influences including Nine Inch Nails and Deftones, the album tackles weighty themes of anxiety, depression and loneliness.
An ambitious third album, Scars For You To Remember, released on Fearless Records in October 2022, features vocals by former Capture the Crown guitarist Mitchell Rogers and brings together several of the styles they've experimented with over the years. Get ready for some serious headbanging when Varials hit the road on their Scars For You To Remember world tour, which hits cities across North America in fall 2022 and heads across the pond to Europe and the UK in late 2022.
Varials Live in Concert
Varials formed in the early 2010s after meeting in the vibrant Philadelphia music scene of which they were all a part. The hardcore punk band released their first single, "Trapped," in late 2013, which was followed by the EP, Recollection, in 2014. In 2017, the band signed a deal with independent label Fearless Records, known for championing several notable pop punk bands as well as metalcore and hard rock acts.
After releasing their debut album, Pain Again, on Fearless in 2017, Varials went on to grow an impressive worldwide fanbase with their aggressive, cathartic music and raucous live performances. In 2022, the band released their third full-length, Scars For You To Remember, accompanied by an ambitious worldwide tour with opening acts including Boundaries, Orthodox, Dr. Acula, and Distinguisher.
After weathering a few lineup changes over the years, guitarist Mitchell Rogers took over lead vocalist duties for Scars, and said that the album's tracks are "the perfect middle ground of where Varials has been, but where we're going from a heavy aspect. It's balls-to-the-wall chaos, but also controlled in a way I don't think we've achieved before."
