Ylvis are a Norwegian comedy duo most known for the viral parody-pop video “The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?).” Brothers Vegard and Bård Ylvisåker host their own Norwegian comedy talk show I Kveld Med Ylvis (Tonight with Ylvis). “The Fox” was initially meant as promotional material for the third season of the talk show, but instead snowballed into an international phenomenon. Since going viral in September 2013, the video has amassed over 200 million YouTube views, earned the song a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, and is being adapted into a children’s book by Simon & Schuster’s Children’s Publishing. Ylvis began their career in 2000 in several variety shows in Norway such as Ylvis - en kabaret (Ylvis - A Cabaret) and a second one in 2003 with Ylvis - en konsert (Ylvis - A Concert). Both met with rave reviews and Ylvis signed to Stageway, a management and live production company, in 2006. After several successful TV and radio shows, Ylvis returned with more live shows including YLVIS III, Ylvis møter veggen (Ylvis vs. The Wall), and YLVIS 4. Tickets sold exceptionally well for YLVIS 4 with 30,000 tickets sold for opening night alone in their hometown of Bergen, Norway. In 2012-13 Ylvis took YLVIS 4 on tour for 212 performances across the rest of the country.
