YOUNG DUBLINERS IN CONCERT:
Celtic rock heroes the Young Dubliners have been breathing new life into Irish music since the late '80s with their festive blend of traditional ballads and contemporary rock. The band's modern take on folk songs and sea shantys always makes for a good time at their live shows, where Irish dancers often take the stage to jig and curtsy alongside the musicians. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
The Young Dubliners were formed in Los Angeles in 1988 by Paul O'Toole and Irish-born Keith Roberts. After achieving regional success with their raucous live shows, the band's 1993 debut EP Rocky Road put them on the national map with hit single "Last House on the Street." A string of acclaimed albums and tours would follow, including 2005's Real World, which wowed critics and fans alike with its ambitious and experimental blend of traditional Irish elements and arena-sized rock guitar licks. 2007's With All Due Respect - The Irish Sessions, an album exclusively comprised of Irish ballads and shantys, landed at No. 14 on Billboard's World Albums charts, bringing some much-deserved recognition to the often-underappreciated band.
