BASEMENT IN CONCERT:
British rock outfit Basement delivers a unique brand of melodic hardcore that combines the emotive qualities of Sunny Day Real Estate and the grunge aesthetic of Nirvana. Following a several-year hiatus the band is back and busier than ever, embarking on a summer US tour while simultaneously recording their highly anticipated third album. In concert the five-piece brings an onslaught of energy to the stage, thrashing around to favorites like “Covet” and “Crickets Throw Their Voice” while the audience keeps pace with dancing and headbanging. Not sure what fits this band]. Whether they’re playing older material or previewing cuts from their forthcoming album, Basement will leave ticket buyers thoroughly rocked with their melodic yet heavy-hitting sound.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Basement formed in Ipswich, England in 2009 and released their debut EP Songs About the Weather the following year on For Cover Records. In 2011 they dropped their debut album I Wish I Could Stay Here, supporting the release with extensive touring in the UK, Australia, and the US. They followed up in 2012 with sophomore album Colourmeinkindness, a critically acclaimed release that led to more touring. After playing a final show at London’s Camden Underground in late 2012 the band went on an indefinite hiatus, but all was not lost. Basement reunited in 2014 and surprised fans with the EP Further Sky, which they had recorded in secret. Since then they’ve continued to electrify on tour while making preparations for their third full-length album.
