BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Flogging Molly formed in Los Angeles in the mid-'90s around frontman Dave King, a veteran punker looking to incorporate Celtic elements into his music. He recruited several players and together they began performing weekly at Molly Malone's Irish pub, where Irish-influenced punk tracks like "Devil's Dance Floor" and "Black Friday Rule" quickly earned them a following. As their popularity grew the band gave themselves a name inspired by the pub, making their debut as Flogging Molly in 1997 with the live album Alive Behind the Green Door. The band's rise continued in 2000 with their official studio debut album Swagger, a critical and commercial success that landed on the Billboard 200 and received a 5-star rating from Punknews.org. Since then the group has become the poster band for Irish punk, releasing four more whiskey-soaked albums --including two that topped the US Indie charts -- and becoming a festival favorite with stints on The Vans Warped Tour and the Rock Against Bush project. Beloved for their powerhouse sound, electric showmanship, and dapper stagewear, Flogging Molly continue to treat lucky ticket buyers to an walloping live experience on their unforgettable tours.
