Havok is widely recognized as one of the most influential thrash metal acts of the 21st century. Havok is made up of David Sanchez (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Pete Webber (drums) and Reece Scruggs (lead guitar, backing vocals), and since 2004, the Colorado band's stronghold on the thrash metal scene has been undeniable.
Originally, Sanchez formed Havok with his classmate and drummer Haakon Sjogren. They found a lead guitarist, Shawn Chavez, by posting fliers in the Denver area. They added Marcus Corich on bass and recorded their first demo, Thrash Can. After a few personnel changes, they released their first EP in 2007, Pwn 'Em All. Havok used that EP and a press kit to contact metal labels and caught the attention of Candlelight Records.
After signing with Candlelight, Havok released their debut album Burn in 2009, then spent time touring with bands like Exodus, Anthrax, Destruction, Primal Fear, and Hammerfall. In 2011, Havok released their sophomore album Time Is Up -- a foundational album for the new thrash metal scene -- which features some of their most well-known singles, like "Covering Fire" and "D.O.A." The success of Time Is Up led to touring opportunities with Sepultura, Death Angel, Anthrax, Exhumed, Goatwhore, and more.
Their third album, Unnatural Selection, was released in 2013, followed by Conformicide in 2017. Their fifth album, V, was released in 2020. (Each Havok album has featured a different band lineup; Sanchez is the only remaining founding member.)
Havok will head out on tour in 2023, performing concerts throughout the United States.
