REAL FRIENDS IN CONCERT:
Chicago pop punk collective Real Friends have said they pride themselves on creating music that makes listeners feel less alone. That sentiment is nowhere more apparent apparent than when the quintet plays live on tour. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Bassist Kyle Fasel and guitarist Dave Knox formed Real Friends in 2010 in The South Side of Chicago. They recruited singer Dan Lambton and guitarist Eric Haines before rounding out the lineup with drummer Brian Blake, whom they found on Craigslist. Their debut EP, 2011's This Is Honesty, introduced their knack for honest, relatable lyrics and featured an emo-tinged pop punk sound in the vein of Jimmy Eat World and The Starting Line. Over the next couple years Real Friends recorded four more EPs including their breakout release, 2013's Put Yourself Back Together. The band's rise continued in 2014 with a tour alongside The Wonder Years, a string of dates on the Vans Warped Tour, and the release of their full-length debut album Maybe This Place Is The Same And We're Just Changing -- a No. 24 hit on the Billboard 200 chart.
