The Saints, long considered uncompetitive, proved to be a force to be reckoned with by qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in 1987, ending the season with a 12-3 record. In 2000, the franchise won their first playoff game. By 2009, when they won a record 13 games, the Saints won the Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts, with Brees earning MVP for his standout performance.
